Heb 13:5 “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”
Life is not easy for anyone. Reguardless of who you happen to run into, there will always be something happening in their lives that represents a difficulty to one extent or another. This is how things will always be for the duration of our stay here on earth. While suffering is common to all men, our ability to deal with suffering is not always the same. What determines this particular difference from person to person? The walk we have with Christ.
Matt 11:28 “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
God has wonderfully designed His plan to allow us access to His power in over coming the trials of life. The only problem is, we often refuse the help that He has given to us. Look at the verse again - “... I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” This represents Gods commitment to us as His children, born into Christ Jesus by the remission of sins through His blood. But God does not FORCE this commitment on us. It is a two way street. God has promised not to leave nor forsake us, but do we find our selves leaving or forsaking Him?
The answer to this question can be found on how we set out to accomplish our days.
- Is our agenda set with only OUR desires in mind, or do we seek to let God guide our to do lists?
- Are we being intentional with our spiritual priorities? Is our focus dominated by bank accounts, work schedules, skype sessions, Netflix, hokey games and the like; or are we making time for spiritual discipline which is essential for success in all other areas of life?
- Are we examining ourselves? The New Testament describes us metaphorically as vessels. Sin represents holes in that vessel. Overt sin represents gaping tares!! Are doing our best to seal our leaks??
Indeed, God does not leave us nor forsake us, but with every action we take, we show Him just how interested or uninterested we are in His presence in our lives!!
