John 6:35 “And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.”

We serve communion each Lords Day service.  We practice open communion, which means that though we affirm that the Lord's Supper is a believers supper intended for those in a covenant relationship with God, we do not stand in judgment on those in the worship service.

For those that are not assembling at the church because of Covid-19, see below for a sample home communion service

Act 2:42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Act 20:7 Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul, ready to depart the next day, spoke to them and continued his message until midnight

As restoration Christians, one of our core principals is the proper observance of the Lords Supper.  The passages above show us that the early church considered the “Breaking of Bread” an essential part of worship, and that part of that essential was doing so on the first day of the week.  Communion is intended to be fellowship centered event.  Rightly then, we partake in the Loaf and the Cup as part of our Sunday worship.

A Home Communion Service

You will need: a Bible, something to drink like juice or drink-mix.  Something to eat like a cracker.

(The Scripture simply emphasizes the loaf and the cup…not what is in the cup or what the loaf consists of.)

  1. Distribute the emblems to each person

  2. Pray over the emblems and for those partaking

  3. Read and instruct for the Loaf

1 Cor 11:23-24 For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”

Then say "Remembering His broken body, let us eat"

   4.  Read and instruct for the cup

1 Co 11:25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.”

Then say "Remembering His shed blood, let us drink"

   5.  Conclude with prayer in thanks to the Lord in Jesus Name
